The role of the Nova Scotia Credit Union Deposit Insurance Corporation (NS CUDIC) is to provide deposit insurance for credit unions and caisses populaires in Nova Scotia, Canada. Working with Atlantic Central and the Nova Scotia Department of Finance, CUDIC provides the most comprehensive deposit insurance and stabilization programs of any financial institution in Nova Scotia. CUDIC serves 24 credit unions across Nova Scotia including their members in 60 different branch locations.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be primarily responsible for fulfilling the mandate of the NS CUDIC in protecting depositors and maintaining confidence in Nova Scotia’s credit unions through the development and implementation of policies and programs for risk management, corporate stewardship and stakeholder relations. Using your extensive experience as a senior executive and an effective leader, you will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive strategic plans which ensure the financial integrity of the corporation and will effectively translate this direction throughout the organization. With a solid track record of good business decision making while maintaining P&L accountability, the incumbent will be a hands-on leader, responsible for all day-to-operations and for ensuring both business and client needs are fully understood and well communicated. The CEO will continually identify key priorities and activities and will draw upon their analytical skills to consistently measure performance. Working closely with the Board of Directors and all stakeholders, the incumbent will drive success through efficiency and quality improvements and by building and maintaining strong working relationships with key clients, partners and relevant business associations.
A highly-skilled relationship manager and communicator, the ideal candidate has many years’ experience as a senior leader and is a consummate professional. The Chief Executive Officer will use her or his finely tuned business acumen, advanced knowledge of the financial sector, experience reporting to a Board, and in-depth knowledge of risk management strategies. The CEO brings a proven ability to manage business operations and maximize efficiency. With highly developed organizational skills, the ideal candidate has the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining a client focus. Highly analytical and savvy, the CEO will bring a track record of successfully implementing innovative initiatives that have a clear impact on overall business performance. The CEO acts as NS CUDIC’s ambassador and has the keen ability to develop and build the confidence and trust of employees, business partners and all stakeholders with the utmost integrity and transparency. A dynamic leader with excellent people skills, the incumbent will motivate and inspire staff and drive the mandate to deliver the highest level of service, quality and value to Nova Scotia credit unions.
